My name is Lien.

I'm from Belgium, a very small country in the heart of Europe. The land of chocolate, French fries, and beer!

I moved to Japan in February 2020 with my husband and my cat. I have always been fascinated by Japan. As a university student, I was presented with the opportunity to study in Japan as an exchange student for one year, and it was the best year of my life! Since then I dreamed of living in Japan again, and in 2020 that dream came true!

My native language is Dutch, but my favorite language is English. I speak Dutch, English, French, and some basic Japanese.

So why is English my favorite language? I have a few reasons!

First of all, when I was a kid I loved playing the newest Pokemon games, reading the latest Harry Potter books, and watching English movies, but I didn't like having to wait for translations or subtitles. So I started studying English! Understanding English meant I didn't have to rely on translations or subtitles anymore, and I could do the things I love(d) without having to wait!

Secondly, some of my best friends don't speak or understand Dutch but we share a common language: English.

English made it possible for me to build friendships with people from all over the world!

I love traveling and discovering new places. And while I am at it, I like to take hundreds of pictures! I might not be very good at it, but I love photography.
